How AI Works

A chatbot does not look answers up like a book. It has learned patterns from huge amounts of text and predicts what a good answer probably looks like, word by word.

In this lesson you will

  • Describe how an AI model is trained and used
  • Understand why AI answers can sound right but be wrong

How it works

From examples to an answer

  1. ExamplesHuge amounts of text and images
  2. TrainingLearns patterns
  3. Your promptWhat you ask
  4. PredictionThe most likely answer

Because it predicts likely words, an AI is very good at sounding fluent and confident. But “likely” is not the same as “true”. If the examples it learned from were wrong, old or one-sided, its answer can be too.

Real-life example

Fluent, but is it right?
